Derk van Veen

Derk is a database engineer and tech lead at Adyen since 2021 where he mainly works with over 100TB PostgreSQL databases. He has been working with database as Oracle, Db2 and PostgreSQL for at least a decade. Besides working with databases he likes to internally train people with respect to databases, gives classes on public speaking and speaks frequently at conferences himself. He is also an active member of the PostgreSQL community and part of the organising committee of PGDay Lowlands, a yearly PostgreSQL conference in the Netherlands. Besides speaking at conferences he likes to meet new people and playing chess. You can usually find him carrying a board, pieces and a chess clock around at the conference. In his free time he likes to enjoy time with his family in the mountains with activities like hiking, climbing, klettersteigs, etc.
