Martin Grund is a principal engineer working for Amazon Web Services in Berlin, Germany. Working on Amazon Redshift, primarily on Amazon Redshift Spectrum, he has been building systems to process Exabytes of data from the data lake in seconds. Just returned from California, he’s now the lead architect for the Redshift development team in Berlin. Before joining Amazon in Palo Alto, he worked for Cloudera on Apache and SAP. Martin holds a PhD in computer science on the topic In-Memory Data Management under the supervision of Prof. Hasso Plattner at the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam. He has been actively publishing in the research community and holds several patents in the area of data management.
